Mechanical Engineering- n. The branch of engineering that encompasses the generation and application of heat and mechanical power and the design, production, and use of machines and tools. Mechanical engineers work with many kinds of machines. Machines that produce or transmits power and energy; such as car engine and nuclear reactors, to air conditioners and power saws. They are concerned with mechanisms and methods that convert natural energy sources into practical uses. Mechanical Engineers often work as parts of a team that can include: Scientists- Who develop new theories and methods and Mechanical Engineer Technicians- Who assist engineers with some of their more routine tasks. Mechanical engineering is very broad field that isn’t just restricted to an industrial factory, other mechanical engineers are involved in sales, research and development, or teaching at the university level. There are many different job titles out there, like::

This may include things like setting up instrumentation, using CAD and Servo Systems, making sketches, rough layouts, record and analyze data, make calculations and estimates, and report on their findings. When planning production, mechanical engineering technicians prepare layouts and drawings of the assembly process and of parts to be manufactured. They can be asked estimate labor costs, equipment life, and plant space. Mechanical Engineering Technology is a hands-on career for the hands on student with a degree obtainable in 2 years.
